Windeck, Josef

Born in Rheydt in 1903, construction worker, arrested as a strike instigator in 1936, sentenced to jail in 1937 for property offenses, transferred to Auschwitz in 1940, served as camp Kapo there, transferred to Buna/Monowitz concentration camp as camp elder in 1942, moved elsewhere in 1943 at instigation of prisoners, escape, military obligation, in Soviet captivity, returned to Germany in 1955, sentenced in third Frankfurt Auschwitz Trial in 1968, sentence suspended in 1969, died in 1977.
